How to use the invoice generator

What to include on an invoice

  • The word Invoice and a unique invoice number
  • Your business name, address and contact details, plus your client's
  • The invoice date and the payment due date
  • A clear description of each item or service, with quantity, price and line total
  • Tax shown separately (for example VAT or sales tax), and the total due
  • How to pay you - bank details or a payment link

Rules differ by country. In the UK, for example, VAT-registered businesses must show their VAT number. If you are unsure, check with your accountant or tax authority.
