How We Review AI Tools
What we check, where our information comes from, and how to tell us when we get something wrong.
AIToolsBox is a directory of 3,351 AI tools across 70 categories, alongside 489 comparison guides. This page explains exactly how that material is put together, so you can judge for yourself how much weight to give it.
Where our information comes from
Every review starts with research across multiple sources — the tool’s documentation, its pricing page, public discussion, and coverage elsewhere. Nothing is published on the strength of a single source.
Every claim is then checked against the tool’s own live website. Our publishing process requires the tool’s current site content before a review can be written, so features and pricing come from the vendor’s own words rather than from another directory’s summary or an out-of-date article.
What we check before anything is published
Each review passes automated checks that block publication outright if any fail:
- Duplicate detection — no two pages may share a URL, page title or description, so we never publish two competing pages on the same subject
- Link verification — every internal link is confirmed to resolve before publishing; we only link to tools we have actually reviewed
- No broken references — a review containing a dead link cannot go live
These run in code rather than by eye, so they apply to every page without exception.
Pricing
Pricing is the detail most likely to go out of date, and the one people most rely on. We take it from each vendor’s own pricing page and re-check it as tools are revisited.
Always confirm pricing on the vendor’s site before you buy. Plans change without notice, vary by region, and often differ for annual versus monthly billing. If you find a figure here that is wrong, please tell us — see below.
The limits of these reviews
Being straight about the limits matters more than overstating the work:
- We do not hands-on test every tool. With 3,351 tools listed, no one could. Our reviews describe what each tool offers, how it is priced and who it suits — not the experience of running it in production for months.
- We do not speak for the tools we list. Features and pricing come from each vendor’s own material; for anything critical, check with them directly.
- Some links may be affiliate links, meaning we could earn a commission at no extra cost to you. See our affiliate disclosure.
How often this is updated
New tools are added continuously and existing reviews are revisited as products change. AI tools change faster than almost any other software category, so treat any review as accurate at the time of writing and verify anything critical on the vendor’s own site.
