A screen-free band that tracks sleep, strain and recovery 24/7, sold as a yearly membership (One, Peak or Life) with the device included.
Whoop is a screen-free wearable that tracks your sleep, strain and recovery 24 hours a day and turns that data into daily scores and personalised coaching in its app. You do not buy the band on its own: every plan is a yearly membership that includes the device, a charger and a band. This Whoop review covers what each of the three memberships (One, Peak and Life) actually includes, what it costs, and how it compares with other screen-free trackers. It sits in our AI fitness tools directory alongside workout and nutrition apps.
Quick Summary
What It Does Tracks sleep, strain, recovery and heart data 24/7 with no screen Best For People who want recovery and sleep coaching without a smartwatch Cost Β£169, Β£229 or Β£349 a year (UK); device included Devices WHOOP 5.0 (One, Peak) and WHOOP MG (Life) Battery 14+ days Our Rating 4.3/5
Whoop is a screenless fitness tracker: a band with heart rate sensors that collect data every second, all day and night, but no display. Instead of checking your wrist, you open the WHOOP app to see three daily scores (Recovery, Sleep and Strain) plus steps, activity, heart rate zones and VO2 max. The screen-free design is deliberate. Whoop says it means no pings, no distractions and nothing to look at during the day. You can wear it on the wrist with one of several bands (SportFlex, CoreKnit, SuperKnit, LeatherLuxe and others) or off the wrist with WHOOP Body smart apparel. Because it is a membership rather than a one-off purchase, the device, charger and band are included, and Whoop adds that you can switch between memberships at any time.
Honest limitation: Whoop has no screen, so it cannot show the time, a workout timer or messages on your wrist. If you need any of those, a smartwatch is the better fit. The yearly membership also means you keep paying for as long as you use it.
The core of every membership: daily scores for how recovered you are, how well you slept and how much strain your day and workouts put on your body.
Included from WHOOP One upwards, alongside steps and activity monitoring, the haptic alarm and Women's Hormonal Insights.
Healthspan estimates your Pace of Aging. Whoop says it is for wellness only, not medical use, and not available to users under 18.
Peak adds a real-time Stress Monitor and a Health Monitor with health alerts on top of everything in WHOOP One.
The Life membership uses the WHOOP MG device and adds the Heart Screener with ECG, Irregular Heart Rhythm Notifications and daily Blood Pressure Insights.
Both WHOOP 5.0 and WHOOP MG last 14+ days. Peak and Life come with the waterproof Wireless PowerPack so you can charge on the go; One comes with a corded Basic Charger.
Every membership also includes Natural Cycles integration, and Whoop currently offers eligible members who are new to Natural Cycles a free year of the app. Whoop says the Women's Hormonal Insights feature only estimates cycle phases and should not be used for conception or contraception.
The Whoop membership cost depends on the plan. These are the prices shown on whoop.com's UK site on 7 November 2026. Whoop sets prices by country, so check the site for your own currency.

Check your morning Recovery score before deciding how hard to train. Pair it with a strength app such as Fitbod, which builds personalised strength workouts.
Use the Sleep score and the vibrating haptic alarm to wake up without disturbing anyone else.
Strava workouts sync in with GPS, pace and power. Cyclists can also try AI Cycling Coach, which adapts plans to your rides, sleep and HRV.
Peak and Life add a real-time Stress Monitor, and Life adds ECG readings and Blood Pressure Insights.
Choose a membership on whoop.com, or start the 1-month free Peak trial with a certified pre-owned WHOOP 5.0.
Install the WHOOP app on your phone and pair the device that arrives with your membership.
Wear it day and night. The sensors collect heart data every second, and your first Sleep and Recovery scores appear after you sleep with it.
Connect Strava if you use it, so activities sync both ways, and switch membership later if you need more or fewer features.
Our rating: 4.3/5. Whoop is worth it if you want sleep, strain and recovery coaching from a band you can forget you are wearing, and you are happy to pay every year. The One plan covers the core scores. Peak is the plan the free trial uses and adds Healthspan and stress tracking. Life is only worth the extra if you want ECG and blood pressure insights. If you mostly want to log meals, MyFitnessPal AI tracks calories and macros. For guided classes, Peloton AI and Nike Training Club are better starting points. The main choice is how you want to pay. Polar Loop is a one-off purchase with no subscription. Oura and Whoop both charge a membership, but Whoop includes the device in the price while Oura sells the ring separately. Whoop is the only one of the three with an ECG option, on its Life plan.
