Crop, fit or stretch?

  • Crop to fill - fills the whole frame and trims the edges. Best for thumbnails, banners and posts.
  • Fit inside - shows the whole picture and fills the gaps with a colour. Best for logos and products.
  • Stretch - forces the exact size without cropping. Only use it when the shape is already close, or the image will look distorted.

Social media image sizes

The presets use the sizes each platform recommends for the sharpest result (checked November 2026). Platforms change these from time to time, and some, such as LinkedIn and Facebook, crop differently on mobile and desktop - keep faces and text away from the edges to be safe.

Frequently asked questions

Does resizing reduce quality?
Making an image smaller keeps it sharp. Making it much larger than the original can look soft, because the extra detail has to be invented. For big upscales, try an AI upscaler from our Image Editing category.
Is my image uploaded?
No. Resizing and cropping run in your browser and nothing is sent to our server.
Can I resize by percentage?
Yes. Choose Custom, then use the percentage field to scale the original - for example 50% to halve both sides.
What format should I download?
JPG for photos you will post on social media, PNG for graphics with text or transparency, and WebP for websites.
