Microsoft revealed in June 2026 that Windows 12 will ship with Copilot integrated at the operating system level — not just as a sidebar but embedded inside File Explorer, the Settings panel, Task Manager, and the Windows Search bar. Users will be able to ask Copilot to reorganise files, diagnose system performance issues, explain error messages, and automate repetitive system tasks using natural language. The feature will be available on all Windows 12 devices, including those on the free upgrade path from Windows 11.
